Lady Banks' Rose & Dogwood

Day Ten of my Rose Challenge is Lady Banks' rose. A wonderful species rose with loads of small yellow flowers carried on long arching branches. I found this one on my way home from taking Teen2 to Taiko practice.

Lady Banks' roses are usually about 8' tall and like to drape themselves over fences or other shrubs. They make a spectacular show this time of year.

I also photographed this dogwood tree in full bloom in next door's front garden. It's been there many years and always puts on a beautiful show. Frankly, I'm jealous.

  3. Our neighbor across the road in CA had the most wonderful Lady Banks rose - it would climb 20 feet or more up the side of her barn and onto the roof. Sometimes wind would knock the vines down in the winter - she would whack them off and it would grow all the better the next year. I miss it.

  7. Now I am wondering if Lady Bank's roses are what I am seeing in some places around here. I will have to remember to pull over and check them out next time I see one. Then I can get a close look at the flowers.
