What a B-E-A-UUUUTIFUL day we had yesterday. It was so warm it was like a switch was suddenly flipped to summer. Our city had a celebration for Earth Day in the park. Teen2's Taiko group performed and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Here's a shot of the her with a very expensive drum. Their leader is just great: so enthusiastic and full of energy. It's fun to see the kids learning not only how to play these drums, but how to work together to put on a performance.
Since we were at the park we checked out the rose garden again. Many more roses are blooming, so I got a few more for my Rose Challenge. This is Tiffany, a huge pink hybrid tea. The petals on this one remind me of a Peony. Isn't it pretty?
Our town is near the San Joaquin River Delta and also has lots of man-made lakes in the newer neighborhoods. Consequently we see lots of waterfowl; mallards, Canadian geese, egrets, herons. Some stay year round and never migrate. Yesterday on our way to Home Depot for tomato plants, we saw this herd of geese wandering around near a lake. We counted the babies and came up with 22! Doesn't that seem like a LOT of eggs for one goose to lay? I don't even see how she could keep them all warm enough to hatch, but maybe the two adults are both females and this is actually two families.
So that's what we did for Earth Day here Amongst The Oaks: Taiko, Tiffany, Tomatoes, and Twenty Two Goslings.
I had to laugh at all your "T" words. Too cute and clever too. Glad you had a great day. I would have enjoyed watching the drummers.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely goslings.
ReplyDeleteAlso some very beautiful roses over the doorway. I have been a bit neglectful of my blogmates because I'm buying a house and things will once again CHANGE. I do keep watching your blog and look forward to settling into a rouine with my new(old)house and small garden,
Cheers
