Cruet Set

My friend JB is in the business of liquidating estates, and she has sales all the time. I try to go to all of them because they are always interesting. Yesterday she had one in a condominium neighborhood, but I went anyway because you never know what you'll find. And sure enough, I found this charming little cruet set.

It was all tarnished so I brought it home and polished it up a bit. And I cleaned all the containers and put salt, pepper, vinegar, and mustard in them. The stoppers don't match so I'll have to search out replacements, but I'm thinking it still looks better on the table than this:

I like the fun shapes...

and the glow of the not-quite-perfectly-polished silver...

and the colorful condiments through the glass....

but most of all I love the little mustard pot.

Would anyone care for a little Grey Poupon?

A Bargain!

I love garage sales, tag sales, yard sales, estate sales. I love them for two reasons: I can get rid of junk I don't need, and I can find BARGAINS. Just yesterday I had a yard sale and got rid of some stuff I didn't need. I made about $50 in just a few hours with no advert in the paper, I might mention. I live off a busy thoroughfare, so I just put a huge A-board sign on the corner and opened the gate. Voila! Instant customers. Teen1 and Teen2 also sold some stuff and each made about $35.00.

So this morning I was walking around the neighborhood handing out neighborhood watch information, and WooHoo, a yard sale! And thesewere sitting out front. I literally ran home to get the, you won't believe this, $20.00. I was smiling from ear to ear as I rolled them home.

I have been wanting some chaise lounges for my patio for ages. Now the question is; should we leave them blue or paint them red to match the rest of our furniture? The Lord of the Manor is voting for red, and I could recover the cushions in a rose flowered chintz, which would look nice. But I kind of like the blue too....

I'm going to think about it a while before I make a decision. And while I ponder it, I'm going to take a nap, outdoors, Amongst The Oaks, on my new chaise lounge.

$2 Happy

How can $2 make a girl so happy? I found this yesterday at an estate sale and brought it home not really knowing what to do with it or where to put it. I just knew I had to have it because it was so sweet. Everyone loves cherubs, right? So this morning I started playing with it and this is what happened.

Angels holding the promise of new life.

Angels holding puffy white clouds.
Angels holding well loved homes.

Angels holding stars.

Angles holding Double Delight.

Wow! Who knew how much fun this would be? I just love estate sales, don't you? Now don't be shy, stop lurking and tell me all about what you've found lately.
