Monday Mosaic - Asparagus Festival

In celebration of our 25th Asparagus Festival I am sharing this mosaic of photos I took there over the weekend. Working from the center, up and clockwise, they are:

Amazing Chalk art by Tracy Lee Stum - you can see more photos here
Asparagus Ice Cream - It was very good, but quite subtle
Stilt Walking Entertainers - always a hit with the kids
California Repercussion Band - a pleasant surprise
Velocity Circus - Wow! these guys are great
Our Flag at City Hall
Tyson the Skateboarding Bulldog - Tyson is so cute and obviously loves skateboarding
Spectators at City Hall
Hundreds of Volunteers Making Deep Fried Asparagus - It couldn't happen without them
Foster Farms "No Plumping" campaign - they even had that old car there
Asparagus Display by the California Asparagus Commission - their site has recipes too
Stockton's Own Rima Barkett, Cookbook Author - we watched her cooking demonstration and then she shared what she'd cooked.
and an Asparagus Festival Shopping Bag

Thanks for joining me here Amongst The Oaks and
Mary at the Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

Monday Mosaic - After The Rain

After yesterday's rain everything looked so fresh, clean and bright in the morning sun. I like the way the warmth of the sun was making the fence all steamy. I am joining Mary at the Little Red House for Monday Mosaic. Thanks for visiting us here Amongst The Oaks.

Mosaic Monday Signs of Spring

The weather is starting to warm here and we are hanging linens out in the sunshine, watching the ferns unfurling, enjoying the antics of birds, and inhaling the scent of wisteria. Life is good.

I am joining Mary at the Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.

Monday Mosaic - Forest Path

Welcome to Mosaic Monday hosted by Mary at the Little Red House. Oops, I see Mary isn't hosting Mosaic Monday this week. We'll just have to catch her next week.

This mosaic was inspired by a walk in the forest near Fern Canyon. How peaceful and beautiful it was. I hope you enjoy it too.

Monday Mosaic - County Fair

Thanks to Mary at the Little Red House for once again hosting Mosaic Monday.

We went to the county fair recently and here is my impression of it. It didn't seem as exciting as it was when I was a kid. But we still enjoyed the animals, artwork, rides, caramel corn and bright lights. All in all, a fun evening.

Mosaic Monday - Lettuce

It's Mosaic Monday again at the Little Red House and also Amongst The Oaks. I'm loving this mosaic habit. It's fun to find a theme and create a new one every Monday. I have to confess though; I'm just using PhotoShop to make mine. I made a grid and I paste the different photos under it, sizing and cropping as necessary. If I have a tall photo or a wide photo I just go back to the grid layer and erase the grid line making a larger square. After I get the photos how I want them, I adjust the color of the grid using Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation until I get a color I like. Then I merge all the layers and create a jpg file to upload to blogger. Easy Peasy.

The weather is getting warmer so I harvested the last of my lettuce crop. Here it is in all its glory. I was really impressed and please with the amount of lettuce that grew in a 24" pot on my patio. I planted it way back in February and it has given us several nice salads. I will definitely do this again, but not until after the summer heat. Maybe now I should plant a leaf crop that won't bolt in the heat. Any ideas?

p.s.
You absolutely have to go visit Mary's blog and see her gorgeous mosaic. I don't know how she does it, but every week they get more beautiful.
