April Blooms

Lots of flowers are blooming in my garden now.
Here's a rose named Americana.
Here's one named Secret.

Here's an old one named Peace. It was here when we bought the place 11 years ago.

This is a large bellflower that reseeds itself every year. We enjoy watching those huge black bees visiting it; they end up covered with pollen.

This is Jupiter's beard. It self seeds too; in fact it's almost a weed. It sprawls across the front walkway impeding foot traffic. I fills in between the roses nicely, but I have to be ruthless with the seedlings.

This is an iris called Beux Arts.

This is a climbing rose called All Ablaze. It seems much happier now that it's got a trellis.

And here is the Queen of my garden; Double Delight. I have several of these because it looks beautiful, smells heavenly, and makes a long lasting bouquet. Maybe it should be called Triple Delight.

that climbing rose is a beauty -- I love climbers. I love how Double delight smells -- it really is special.

Each one looks heavenly. You are a bit further along in your growing season than we are.

I have a Peace and a Double Delight. I completely agree about the DD. My post yesterday shows one of my favorites in our garden. It is a Garden Party - also long lasting and divine scent.

Lovely! I have roses blooming now, but the Jupiter's Beard I planted last year didn't grow. I guess they don't grow like weeds here.

And about the asparagus; just one word: Scrummy!! My favorite veg.

Hi, I've never heard valerian called Jupiter's beard, although I can see why it is when it has seeds. Love all your roses and the iris is a gorgeous colour.

I adore these roses. I plant then now wherever I live. I found them by accident. I went to the Drs. long ago for something and when I walked in, it smelled of roses. I asked the nurse and she had a vase of only 3 on her desk. I asked her what kind they were and she said Double Delight. That did it for me :) . They are now planted everywhere by me .....Im the JohnnyAppleseed of roses lol.
