Darlingtonia californica

Near Florence, Oregon we visited these very strange plants; Darlingtonia californica. They have developed a clever way to entice bugs into their tubular leaves where they can't escape. The bugs eventually fall to the bottom where they are digested. Weird amazing plants, definitely NOT Amongst The Oaks.

Very strange indeed. We were in that area in 2000. We were visiting family in Springfield and took a drive to Florence. Went to the Heceta Head lighthouse and to the Sea Lion Caves while we were there. We also went to Silver Falls State Park and saw some of the beautiful falls there.

great macro photos, we are all very envious of your ability to drive into the wilderness.
