Sunday's Task

I keep utensils in this crock near the stove. About a month ago one of the salad tongs somehow jumped out and fell behind the range. Bummer. I kept reaching for the remaining one forgetting its mate was gone. Double bummer. So I threw the remaining one back there too. Silly, I know, but at least they were together. Finally today I pulled out the range to retrieve them. I'm not going to show you what it looked like behind the range that hadn't moved in two years, but suffice it to say, IT WAS GROSS.

So I decided to clean it all out. I wiped down the tiles. I cleaned the sides of the cabinets. Then the Lord of the Manor came in and saw what I was doing. He got involved and...
we took these grease catchers out and cleaned them too. And all up inside the hood. And the fluorescent lights. And then I cleaned the top of the range.

And here is how it looked when we were done. Phew.

And almost two hours later I finally got the salad tongs back where they belonged. And that's how we spent our Sunday here Amongst The Oaks.

Your tossing the second salad tong behind the stove cracked me up so much I was laughing with tears rolling down my cheeks. I am so glad your tongs are both together again, but this time back in the crock where they belong. Hope they stay there now. At least you now have a very clean stove area.

Lovely lovely kitchen - and I laughed out loud at tossing the second one behind the stove - sounds like something I'd do.

Seems to be quite a bit of spring cleaning going on at the Manor? Funny, I am cleaning the stove today and the whole house smells like burnt turkey drippings.

Btw, the room turned out fabulous. Such bittersweet moments when they are asserting their individuality. I have an almost 20 yr old and a 16 yr old. The 16 yr old is being courted by 20 or so US universities, so at this point I don't care what colour her room is so long as she stays home for uni (isn't going to happen ;)

Have a great week.

I have a serious problem with things taking flying leaps into the depths behind the stove! And since ours weighs about 500 lbs, retrieving the lost items is no easy task!

I suppose that's why I would never dream of simply tossing a bereaved tong back there.

Too, too funny. And very ambitious of you!

Beautiful kitchen! I can relate to the flying tongs! LOL!- things seem to go that way at my house when I am at the stove for some reason! Funny how retrieving the tong lead ya into another thing-isn't it always that way? Hope you are having an awesome week!~Smiles~Tam!
