White Flower Challenge - Day 9

Agapanthus
Lily of the Nile

Agapanthus reminds me of fireworks they way the stems shoot straight up from the clump of strappy leaves and then send out several little flowers to burst open. It's just starting to bloom around here so it will still be blooming for our Independece Day on July 4th. So if I don't get over to the park to watch the fireworks, I can still see some in my neighborhood. It comes in blue too, now if it just came in red, we'd have a perfectly patriotic display of red, white and blue.

I am so impressed that you are finding all of these white blooms. I don't think I could find so many.

These do look like fireworks. Maybe you can lightly spray a few red for the Fourth. ;-)

Hi! I stopped in to see your porch party post, which is beautiful! ..love the red chairs! I was so excited to see your post on Agapanthus. I need information! I am in NC, and was not familiar with them, but found one in SC and decided I would try it! It did so well, until the last week! The temps have reached into the upper 90's and even 100 degrees over the weekend and my plant now looks terrible! It is turning yellow! Could I possibly be overwatering it? I would appreciate any pointers you could share! :) ~Rhonda

to Rhonda,
I live in California's Central Valley where it reaches 100 degrees for days on end, so I don't think the heat is bothering your Agapanthus. I'll check around and leave a note on your blog if I figure it out.
Hugs, Laura
